Invitational Girls Recreational Classes
Advanced 4/5s is for 4 and 5-year-old children who have been in our preschool program for a long period of time. The curriculum will be somewhat challenging and the distance from their parents will be far enough that they may not be able to see you easily. We DO NOT want this experience to be traumatic to your child in any way. We DO NOT want your child to feel anxious about either the curriculum or their separation from you. For that reason, the coaches who work with your child will provide you with a recommendation into this class if they feel your child is not only physically, but also emotionally and socially ready for this challenge. We are looking for children who are very comfortable in the gym, not afraid of being away from their parents for a full hour, no anxiety with not having regular visual verification of your presence in the facility, and full engagement in the activity. Advanced 4/5s classes are taught a combination of our level 1 and prep 2 recreational curriculum, which places them beyond the physical preparedness of a 4 and 5-year-old walking in our door for the first time. It is in this class that instructors can identify if your child exhibits some of the elements of a gymnast, such as high energy, fearlessness, strength, and flexibility. But, for placement in this class what we are really looking for is a child that is not afraid to go on their own into the main gym area (which is quite a distance from parent viewing) and participate fully in the gymnastic activity. Advanced 4/5s can move onto level 1, or if identified as a candidate for our developmental program they may be invited to Tiny Twisters.
Tiny Twisters is the perfect class for 4 and 5-year-old girls who have been participating in our advanced 4/5s classes. They seem to love gymnastics and demonstrate some natural gymnastics ability. We also like to see parental support of their child fully engaging in the gymnastics program. The curriculum is based on Prep 2 & Level 2 recreational lesson plans and is intended to accelerate the child’s progress. Tiny Twisters can advance to Super Twisters. This class requires participation in Skills Meets, Reindeer Games, and Mini-Olympics.
Super Twisters is for 6 and 7-year-old girls who demonstrate some natural gymnastics ability. Super Twisters are selected from Advanced 5s classes, or from Tiny Twisters. These classes meet 2x per week for 2 hours each time (4 hours per week) – a slight increase in time over the Tiny Twister program. This developmental program helps the child and the parent to decide if your child will move on to our competitive gymnastics programs. This class requires participation in Skills Meets, Reindeer Games, and Mini-Olympics.
Shooting Stars is for 6 to 8 year-old girls who demonstrate some natural gymnastics ability. Shooting Stars are selected from our recreational levels. These classes meet 2x per week for 2 hours each time (4 hours per week). Gymnasts are developing strong gymnastics fundamentals and a love for the sport, as well as team bonds. This developmental program helps the child and the parent to decide if your child will move on to our competitive gymnastics programs. This class requires participation in Skills Meets, Reindeer Games, and Mini-Olympics.
This is an advanced class for girls aged 8+ who have excelled in our girls Level 3 recreational program and are preparing for our Hope teams. These classes meet 2x per week for 2 hours each time (4 hours per week). Gymnasts are developing strong gymnastics fundamentals and a love for the sport, as well as team bonds. This developmental program helps the child and the parent to decide if your child will move on to our competitive gymnastics programs. This class requires participation in Skills Meets, Reindeer Games, and Mini-Olympics..
Level 3 is a two-hour invitational class where gymnasts are challenged with harder gymnastics and tumbling skills.
